Vaionic to Start Taking Orders for Gen2 Ironless E-Drive Prototypes

Vaionic starts prototyping and testing of its second-generation (Gen2) electric motor and power electronics, perfectly suitable for A-Segment city BEVs.
The prototypes can be ordered from Q4, 2025 for measurements and validations, as a part of the pilot program.

Berlin, September 2025 – Vaionic Technologies GmbH, a pioneer in sustainable and efficient electric drive systems, is proud to announce the development, prototyping, and testing of its second-generation (Gen2) electric motor and power electronics. This milestone marks the next step in Vaionic’s mission to deliver application-specific, high-performance e-drives for the future of electric mobility.

Building on the success of the Gen1 system, which demonstrated the viability of Vaionic’s stator-ironless permanent magnet synchronous motor (iPSM) technology and its modular concept in a fully functional Demo Car (VW e-Crafter), the Gen2 focuses on a compact, single stator module configuration with the unrivalled short axial length. Engineered to meet the demands of urban and compact A-segment battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs), Gen2 delivers exceptional power density and cost-efficiency - two critical factors in enabling truly affordable, entry-level e-mobility.

A New Standard for Compact BEVs

The Gen2 configuration retains Vaionic’s ironless stator design, eliminating frequency-dependent iron losses and delivering superior efficiency at high speeds and partial loads. With significantly reduced weight, minimized drag losses, and scalable architecture, the Gen2 motor sets a new benchmark for sustainability and manufacturability in its class.

Pilot Program Launching Q4 2025

Vaionic will open its Gen2 prototype pilot program in Q4 2025, offering OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers the opportunity to order prototype units for measurements, testing, and validation. This program includes close collaboration with Vaionic’s engineering team, enabling partners to gain first-hand experience with the technology and to take an advantage in future partnerships.
